Colorado Fibromyalgia Network held its first ever "Fibromyalgia Awareness Day Celebration" on Sunday, May 10th, 2009. Members of the public attended, as did Federal Heights' Mayor, Joyce Thomas, and Ward III Councilman Mike Ciezslak. The mayor presented Lannette and the Colorado Fibromyalgia Network with a proclamation recognizing May 12, 2009 as "Fibromyalgia Awareness Day" in the City of Federal Heights, and there was a PowerPoint presentation discussing fibromyalgia's impact on its patients, their families, and the local community.
A lot of photographs were taken, and some were sent to the National Fibromyalgia Association, along with a copy of the Proclamation. On June 5th, 2009, the NFA released a slide show on YouTube showcasing FM Awareness Day events around the world. Colorado Fibromyalgia Network was among the many organizations recognized.
